The Viking needs to be a combination of ferocity and might, and bravery and integrity. Few stories combine these stories better than that of Fenrir and Tyr.

Fenrir was a giant wolf and a son of Loki. The gods so feared the wolf that they decided to imprison him. But he was too strong to subdue, and so they had to trick the wolf into putting on a magical chain himself, saying that breaking the chain would be a show of his immense strength.

Fenrir agreed, but suspicious, demanded that one of the gods put their hand in his mouth during the process as a sign of good faith. Naturally, none of the gods wanted to do it, knowing that the arm would be sacrificed.

Only the god Tyr had the courage and the integrity to agree to make the sacrifice. And when Fenrir discovered the ruse, he lost his hand.

Fenrir is destined to remain imprisoned until Ragnarok allows him to break his chains, when he will get his revenge, killing Odin himself.
